B’nai Mitzvah FAQ

What is your photographic style?

Our style is documentary (that means photojournalistic and unposed). We spotlight your family’s personality and do not stage photos or direct your guests. That’s what makes documentary photography our passion. Our photos are fresh, fun, and candid.

What is your experience with bar and bat mitzvahs?

Our background uniquely qualifies us to cover b’nai mitzvah. Rachael minored in Judaic Studies at Syracuse University, where she earned a bachelors degree in photojournalism. Before that, she received her high school diploma from Beth Tfiloh, a Jewish day school in Baltimore. Her Jewish education began in kindergarten and she continues to immerse herself in the study of Jewish ritual and practice.

Rachael understands the pressure of being up on the bima; she serves as a torah reader at Shaare Torah in Gaithersburg. As you can see, Rachael deeply appreciates halacha and tradition. She has been photographing b’nai mitzvah for six years.

May I speak to your recent clients?

Absolutely. Contact us and we will provide you with a list of references.

How far in advance should I book?

Contact us immediately to secure your date.

What is the best location for our portraits?

Formal portraits will be shot on location at your synagogue or temple. Additionally, portraits may also be taken at your home or outdoors, at a location that complements your family.

Will you take photos for our sign-in board?

Absolutely. Photos from your portrait sessionĀ  may be enlarged and mounted for use as a sign-in board or life-size cut-out.

When will I see my photos?

Check our blog after your shoot for a sneak peek of your photos. Your proofs will be posted for online viewing four weeks after your session and remain online for three months. There is a $35 fee to rehost the gallery for an additional month.

Can I order online?

Yes! You may order prints and canvases directly from your password-protected gallery. You may share your gallery with family and friends. This way, your loved ones may order professional quality prints, which will be delivered to their home.

Can I get the digital files?

You may purchase the entire set of high-resolution digital files from your shoot.
All packages include a complete set of low-resolution watermarked files that are sized for email and may be shared with friends and family.

All of these files are for your personal use. You may use these files for online posting, or to make prints and thank you cards. The images, however, may not be sold for commercial use.

What types of albums do you offer?

Rachael Spiegel Photography offers custom designed flushmount albums in a range of styles and prices. We also offer coffee table albums and mini-albums.

How do I order my album?

We will schedule an album booking session where you can view samples, cover fabric swatches and Rachael will help you make your final selections after your event.

Does Rachael Spiegel Photography travel?

Travel up to 60 miles from Gaithersburg is included in pricing. We are happy to photograph celebrations nationwide and are appreciative of budget constraints.
